Akdeniz University High Resolution Stellar Spectroscopy Group

High resolution (optical / IR) Stellar Spectroscopy group is an undergrad research group under the Space Physics division of the Space Sciences and Technologies Graduate program in the Akdeniz University. The group is active since 2013 and is open to not only undergrad students but also to new MSc and PhD students/candidates. The group membership is also open to all enthusiastic undergrads from computer science, engineering, and physics departments.

"Undergrads at work" Program for Undergrads

Prospective undergraduate group members will have a hands-on active learning experience in the field of stellar spectroscopy. They will work on specific research projects so they will learn as they assist.

My intention and also motivation with this program is to trigger scientific research interest of the undergrads on (stellar) spectroscopy. So if you're an undergrad and insterested in participating, you are welcome to apply for a group membership.

I'm currently in the faculty of science building, block-B: the room number is BZ8 which also happens to be the place where we generaly perform the research activities of the group.


HRSS Seminars in Fall 2016

Fridays  / 15:30 - 16:30 / at BZ-8

Undergrad group meetings are organized on a weekly basis. These weekly group meetings include short discussions on several topics consisting spectroscopic analysis of selected astronomical objects, stellar evolution in general and development of stellar spectroscopy based programming tools in different platforms such as in Interactive Data Language (IDL) and FORTRAN. The students also get familiar with linux operating systems and shell scripting in related astrophysical applications.
